This…or that?

This…or that?

There has been much talk in the last few years, of the great ‘London Exodus,’ and the post-pandemic trend towards swapping city life...for the slower pace of the Home Counties.

Several years on from when this first became ‘a thing’, towns such as Maidenhead still show no sign of losing their draw, and especially among those Londoners keen to tap into the so-called ‘race for space’ that is largely behind this commuter town’s burgeoning popularity.

The bottom line? That there are significant space gains to be had from side-stepping from City to suburb, as this ‘same price/different area’ example (below) clearly demonstrates.

The first property -a five bedroom detached family house close to the National Trust Land at Maidenhead Thicket.

The second - a three bedroom, first floor maisonette in Central Fulham.

What the first property has to its advantages (besides two extra bedrooms), is driveway parking, a generous West facing garden and a sizeable L-shape kitchen/family room. The property also benefits from three en-suites, and is in the catchment for the much sought-after Newlands Girls School.

Among the advantages of Maidenhead as an ‘escape from the city’, there is the favourable access it retains to the capital - the result of strong levels of investment and development in the past few years - which means it is not a total departure from London life, and its many social and business draws.

With this redevelopment expected to continue into 2023 and beyond, there has never been a more appealing time to move to Maidenhead – something that the experienced team at Braxton are poised to assist relocators with, as we look ahead to the New Year.
